Hello there! If your aspiration is to emulate Jeff Bezos, it's going to take more than just a traditional education. School can provide a solid base for you to grasp the basics of computing and coding, and it's a fantastic place to meet and connect with others who share your interests.

Yet, to truly excel, you'll need to go above and beyond. Engage in personal projects and encourage innovative thinking. It's not the institution itself that will shape you into the next Jeff Bezos, but rather how you utilize the skills you've acquired there to conceive groundbreaking ideas that could potentially revolutionize the world. Remember, Jeff Bezos began his journey in a garage, so patience and unwavering faith in your concept and capabilities are key to reaching his stature.

Dream big and drown out the naysayers! Trust your instincts, and you have the potential to rise to his level.

Hi Emmanuel,

While there's no guaranteed path to becoming someone like Jeff Bezos, who founded Amazon, there are certain fields of study and qualities that can increase your chances of success as an entrepreneur or business leader. Here are some considerations:

Business Administration or Management: Studying business administration or management can provide you with a solid foundation in business principles, including finance, marketing, operations, and strategy. These skills are essential for running a successful company and making strategic decisions.
Computer Science or Engineering: A degree in computer science or engineering can be valuable, especially in today's technology-driven world. Understanding computer programming, software development, and technology trends can provide you with the knowledge and skills to innovate and build scalable tech-based businesses.
Entrepreneurship: Some universities offer programs specifically focused on entrepreneurship, where you can learn about starting and growing a business, identifying opportunities, raising capital, and managing risks. These programs often combine coursework with hands-on experiences and mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs.
Finance or Economics: Studying finance or economics can help you develop a strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and economic trends. These skills are valuable for managing finances, making strategic decisions, and understanding the broader economic landscape.
Leadership and Communication: Regardless of your field of study, developing strong leadership and communication skills is essential for success in any career. Effective communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to inspire and motivate others are critical qualities for business leaders.
To be better than your peers and become competent in your chosen field, consider the following tips:

Continuous Learning: Stay curious and committed to lifelong learning. Keep up with industry trends, developments, and best practices through reading, attending workshops or conferences, and seeking mentorship from experienced professionals.
Set Goals: Establish clear, achievable goals for yourself and work systematically towards them. Break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks and track your progress regularly.
Seek Feedback: Be open to feedback from peers, mentors, and supervisors. Constructive criticism can help you identify areas for improvement and grow professionally.
Develop Soft Skills: In addition to technical skills, focus on developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, and emotional intelligence. These skills are increasingly valued by employers and essential for building successful relationships and collaborations.
Build a Network: Cultivate relationships with peers, mentors, industry professionals, and alumni. Networking can provide valuable opportunities for learning, collaboration, and career advancement.
Regarding the necessity of studying computer science in school, while it's not mandatory for everyone, studying computer science can provide you with valuable skills and knowledge in areas such as programming, software development, and technology innovation. In today's digital age, technology is pervasive across industries, and having a basic understanding of computer science concepts can be beneficial in various career paths, even if you don't pursue a career specifically in technology. Additionally, studying computer science can open up opportunities for careers in fields such as software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, and IT management. However, the decision to study computer science should align with your interests, career goals, and aspirations. If you're passionate about technology and enjoy problem-solving, computer science may be a great fit for you.

Study business. Jeff Bezos has been very public with his priority of customer obsession. What will set you apart from your peers and set you on a path to become a billionaire is learning what people need in terms of a product or service, creating it and delivering it in a way that is so valuable that people are happy to pay you for it.

Ryan’s Answer

Good morning Emmanuel, I'd like to answer your question in a few points.

What degree should I study in school that will make me someone like Jeff Bezos?
None. That isn't to say that degrees aren't useful but there isn't a direct path to developing a profitable business like Amazon or emulating someone's rise to prominence. When you look at degrees you'll want to look at what you are offered and where you want to go with it. If you have an interest or skill in a particular field already you can use a degree to increase your abilities.

If you are just starting in your career you should ask yourself where you want to go & start looking at the paths that those people took to get their as well as their background. For many people this will involve develop a pertinent skill as well as management skills so you can develop a team that can work with you to achieve your goals in a business. Without effective communication skills & knowledge you won't be able to create a persistent business.

What is the best course to study in the university?
This truly depends on your personal desires and where you want to end up. You want a degree that develops specialized skills in a field that you are interested in and dedicated in.

How can I be better than my peer and be competent?
Persistence & continuous learning. Many students and individuals fail to continually grow once they are comfortable or they believe they are doing fine. As a student you want to learn all that you can about your interested field and continuously learn. Many successful people are eternal students and use this to stay on top of their respective fields.

Why do I have to go to school to learn about computer science?

Computers are a staple of the growing economy. You'd be hard pressed to find many successful businesses that aren't using computers in some kind of way. Having a basic technical literacy and understanding helps you learn what computers are capable of now and where they could be headed in the future.

Seng’s Answer

Emmanuel,

1) Strive not to mimic others, but to find the strength and beauty in your own uniqueness. Your life's mission should be to continuously evolve into the most exceptional version of yourself.

2) Don't compare your progress with that of your peers. Instead, focus on surpassing your own achievements from the previous day. As long as you're committed to self-improvement, you'll find yourself growing better each day. Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint. Consistent, gradual growth will lead you to greatness.

3) School isn't the only place to learn about computer science. Platforms like edx and coursera offer comprehensive online courses. However, the key question is: Do you have the discipline to delve into the sometimes tedious fundamentals of computer science on your own? If yes, then the world of knowledge is at your fingertips.

ALFONSO’s Answer

Hello Emmanuel, Professional success depends a lot on having chosen what you really like and are passionate about. It is not enough to just say that you are going to study a "fashion" career, or the career that is currently the "best paid", or the one your friends chose, or the one your parents tell you. If you study what really moves you and is passionate about you, you will have many more possibilities of achieving the success and happiness you are looking for, in a very easy way... then you will enjoy it a lot; Even work will not be a "job", but something you do with great joy and the ideas of creativity will flow.
Once you choose what you are going to study, it is not enough to just get good grades, but to stand out from others, giving that extra something that makes the difference... better school work, very creative presentations, good ideas, proposals, class participation, etc When you are already a professional, the key would be to keep yourself updated in both technology and knowledge, this way you will have fewer competitors. Get ahead of others in the sense of identifying needs before others and proposing ways to satisfy them, but in creative and innovative ways.
I wish you the best in all your projects!!
