Dear Tantat,

To get an interior design career in Denver, CO, you can follow these steps:

Networking: Building professional relationships is crucial in the interior design industry. Attend local design events, join industry organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) or International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and connect with other designers and industry professionals on LinkedIn.

Certification: While not mandatory for entry-level positions, obtaining a certification from a reputable organization like the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) can increase your chances of getting hired and demonstrate your expertise to potential employers. Arapahoe Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Interior Design that can help you prepare for NCIDQ certification exams.

Resume, CV, Cover Letter, and Portfolio: Tailor your resume and cover letter to each job application, highlighting your relevant experience and skills. Your portfolio should showcase a diverse range of projects that demonstrate your design abilities and creativity. Make sure your portfolio is visually appealing and easy to navigate online or in person.

Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest design trends and technologies by attending workshops, webinars, or conferences offered by professional organizations or local colleges like Arapahoe Community College. This will not only help you expand your knowledge but also make you a more attractive candidate to potential employers.

Gain Experience: Volunteer or intern with established interior design firms to gain hands-on experience and build connections within the industry. You can also consider freelancing or starting your own small projects to build a client base and establish a professional reputation in Denver’s interior design community.

Building Code Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with Denver’s building codes and regulations related to interior design projects to ensure compliance during the design process and avoid potential legal issues down the line. The City of Denver’s Department of Community Planning &

Development website provides resources on building codes and permits for various types of projects.

Networking with Local Businesses: Connect with local businesses such as furniture stores, home improvement retailers, paint suppliers, etc., as they may offer opportunities for collaboration or referrals within their networks. Building strong relationships with these businesses can lead to valuable partnerships throughout your career in interior design.**

Hello i think it is generally a huge task getting a job in a western country when you did all your education in your home country, this is generally due to the fact that employers are scared and feel un safe about your level competence that might not match thier expectations. Some employers may take a bold step by asking you to come for an internship pre-employment thats to access your skill and level of competence before the employ you. The best way to get a job is first making sure all your credentials are in the language your employers best understand (thats if your from a country speaking a different language) make sure than you get you certificate equivalent in US standards using WES , next is to draft a CV in the style if that country for example if applying to a job in the US use a US CV template and draft yours. Next thing to do is to get professional certification that will boasts your credibility in the eyes of your employers. These certifications will be best if gotten from competent institutions from the country in which you want to work in , which in this case is the US . Follow up your professional certifications with continues learning certificates that will make employers know that you are open to learning new things and make you more serious. After all these done apply for a short term internship position that will give you hands on experience for banging your desired job. Thank you
