It depends what you are looking for, what kind of music you are interested about, and what would be your role in the music world. Do you want to be a performer, a producer...or are you more interested in composition, musicology, etc? Also, would you like teaching music? and at what level?

There are many good schools that could help you to have a happy successful life in music, but it just depends on what specifically you are looking for.

Berkelee has programs in popular music https://www.berklee.edu/focused/bpmi

Eastman and Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music for instance have had many succesful student in the classical music, but there are others too, Rice, in Texas, UCLA in Los Angeles, Julliard, Northwestern in Chicago... Hope it helps! All the best!

Nir’s Answer

The best music schools depend on what aspect of music you want to study. Is it performance or audio engineering? Jazz or classical? Conservatory or liberal arts? Once you've narrowed down the scope of what you're interested you can have a better idea of what schools are fitting to your need. But even the best music school for any specific need is far from a guarantee for a successful and well paying music career. More than anything music school allows you to make valuable connections, but you will find that there are thousands of musicians who didn't go to music school who will kick your butt.

Success really has a lot more to do with opportunity and attitude than skills and certainly more than credentials.
