Hello Cassandra!
How to Get Businesses Interested in Your Work
To attract businesses and generate interest in your work, you need to adopt a strategic approach that combines self-promotion, networking, and continuous improvement. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you effectively market yourself and your skills:
1. Understand Your Unique Value Proposition (UVP)
Before reaching out to businesses, it’s crucial to identify what makes you unique. Your UVP is the combination of skills, experiences, and attributes that set you apart from others in your field. Consider the following:
Skills Assessment: List your key skills and strengths. What do you excel at? How can these skills benefit potential employers or clients?
Target Audience: Identify the types of businesses or industries that would benefit from your work. Tailor your UVP to meet their specific needs.
2. Build a Strong Portfolio
A well-curated portfolio showcases your best work and demonstrates your capabilities. Here’s how to create an impactful portfolio:
Select Your Best Work: Choose projects that highlight your skills and achievements relevant to the businesses you’re targeting.
Include Case Studies: Provide context for each piece of work by including case studies that outline the problem, solution, and results.
Make It Accessible: Create an online portfolio using platforms like Behance, LinkedIn, or a personal website where potential clients can easily view your work.
3. Network Effectively
Networking is essential for getting noticed by businesses. Here are some strategies:
Attend Industry Events: Participate in conferences, workshops, and seminars related to your field. These events provide opportunities to meet industry professionals.
Join Professional Associations: Becoming a member of relevant organizations can help you connect with like-minded individuals and gain access to job opportunities.
Leverage Social Media: Use platforms like LinkedIn to connect with industry leaders, share insights about your work, and engage with content related to your field.
4. Utilize Online Platforms
In today’s digital age, leveraging online platforms is crucial for visibility:
Social Media Presence: Regularly post updates about your projects on social media channels relevant to your industry (e.g., Instagram for creatives).
Freelance Websites: Consider joining freelance platforms such as Upwork or Fiverr where businesses look for talent.
Content Creation: Start a blog or YouTube channel where you share knowledge related to your expertise; this positions you as an authority in your field.
5. Tailor Your Approach
When reaching out to potential employers or clients:
Personalize Communication: Customize emails or messages based on the recipient’s business needs and how you can add value.
Follow Up: If you don’t receive a response after initial outreach, consider sending a polite follow-up message after a week or two.
6. Seek Feedback and Improve
Continuous improvement is vital for long-term success:
Request Feedback: After completing projects or interviews, ask for feedback on what went well and areas for improvement.
Invest in Learning: Take courses or attend workshops that enhance your skills based on feedback received.
7. Stay Persistent
Rejection is part of the process; don’t be discouraged if things don’t go as planned initially:
Keep Applying: Continue applying for jobs or pitching clients even if you’ve faced setbacks.
Reflect on Experiences: Analyze what didn’t work in previous attempts and adjust accordingly.
By following these steps diligently while maintaining a positive attitude towards self-improvement and resilience against rejection, you’ll increase the likelihood of capturing business interest in your work.

Thank you for your question. In fact, not all jobs are selling yourself or getting the craft to attract people attention. Eg doctor, writer, media designer, computer programmer, etc. The most important is to find out what you have interest. You like the job, you can do it good.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
