How can balance my personal life with my passion of being cardiothoracic surgeon?
I want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. But sometimes I think it is a very long route because I want to have life and time for my self too. I am really stuck. Sometimes i think about checking out other fields but nothing seems to give that feeling of purpose cardiology gives me.What should I do?

Hello Sosina,
Your question is absolutely in my wheelhouse! The concept of balance is crucial in various aspects of life, providing stability, wellness, and peak performance. However, there are certain unique aspects when it comes to Work-Life Balance. It's about managing your time and energy effectively between work obligations and personal life pursuits, all in the interest of maintaining health, joy, and productivity. Although I'm not a medical professional, I can share that in my homeland of Albania, it's quite common for doctors to marry each other !
Don't hesitate to follow your heart and pursue your dream of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon!
May you always be surrounded by blessings!

It’s completely normal to feel that way, especially when pursuing a demanding career like cardiothoracic surgery. Balancing your personal life with your passion is crucial. Start by setting clear boundaries for work and personal time—prioritize self-care, hobbies, and relationships. Talk to mentors or professionals in the field to get their insights on maintaining balance. You might also explore shadowing or volunteering to see how others manage their time. Remember, it’s okay to take breaks and reassess your path; your well-being is important, too! Stay connected to what inspires you while finding ways to enjoy life along the journey. You’ve got this!
