I worked in many restaurants as a teenager and young adult. The restaurant and cooking industry is easy to get started in if you have a good attitude and are willing to work hard. The easiest way to start working at a restaurant is often as a dishwasher or prep cook. Once you have spent time working in kitchens and have proven yourself as a fast and capable worker you can begin to work towards the goal of being a cook or chef. Fast food can also be a good way to begin working in the food industry to gain experience.

Andrew recommends the following next steps:

Go to local fast food businesses and restaurants and express interest in working there. Tell them that you are open to entry level positions and would like to gain experience.
