Ken’s Answer

It might be helpful to talk to the director of alumni relations at your college to arrange to talk to graduates of your school who have gone through the interview process to see that they have to say. Also, it might be a good idea to talk to your academic adviser and favorite professors to see what they might have to say .

Richard’s Answer

Grades: There is an unnecessary emphasis on your med school grades.

USMLE: Most residency programs want to brag about the high scores of their graduates.

Recommendation: Get relevant recommendation letters.... sub specialty surgery programs aren't interested in you family practice rotation.

Interview: Do your research! Search online for the most common questions. If you know who your interviewer will be, search for their research interest and publications.
