What is the best way to bridge the gap between the academics (College Freshman) of Six Sigma Certifications (already reached Green Belt) and having the hands-on experiences without jumping to far ahead when seeking better job placement?

I was originally returning to school to get past the "paper ceiling". Through the courses that would strengthen my understanding of the industry beyond the warehouse I work for, I discovered that the Lean Production outlook, and the goals of Six Sigma and it's methodologies matched my beliefs about how to improve many things I have encountered over the years. I am now interested in a more focused career in this area, but need to bridge that gap.
