I am a dancer. I have been studying ballet since I was 3 1/2. I have danced the lead roles in my home studio's productions for three years, have attended summer ballet intensives with major company schools since I was 13, and have received partial scholarships from all of them, as well as last year from the Anthony Quinn Foundation. I am most interested in contemporary ballet, and also love choreography.

I have been taking these steps all my life. Training in classical ballet, contemporary ballet, tap, modern, jazz, Pilates, and other forms. My next steps are further summer intensives, possibly moving to a different city with a larger year-round program, auditioning for a company's "second company" or "trainee" programs. I also am considering college dance programs. I am most interested in University of North Carolina School of the Arts. #contemporary #professional-dance

What are the best colleges for dance programs that actually lead to professional dance careers?

Many colleges and universities offer dance programs, but not all are consistent at leading to a dance career that pays the bills. Is there a list somewhere of good programs and their rate of graduates getting hired? #dance #dance-education #ballet #performing-arts #art...

What is the best path to become a professional dancer, auditioning for a company at 18 or going to a college dance program?

Most dancers I know feel that the best path to a professional dance career is to go straight out of high school to a company. I'm not sure I'm ready for that, and I also would like to go to college. I'm afraid that if I do, though, I might be making it more difficult for me to get into a...
