About

I’ve never really fit the mold of a typical teenager. I’m a person who enjoys tutoring kids, working in a haunted house on Halloween, recycling paper at my school, and spending my summer reading textbooks about anatomy. I worried as a child that I was too different, and I would never fit in anywhere. However, I now know that being different makes me who I am. Attending college is something I have been working for my entire life. Learning is an integral part of who I am, and I have worked very hard to go to college for continuing education. All that work has now started to pay off.
Choosing a college will probably be the most difficult part of completing high school. I have narrowed my list to three schools: (1) UW Madison, (2) UM Twin Cities, and (3) UW Green Bay. I could picture myself at any one of these campuses. I have visited each and that has only made the decision harder. I am fortunate enough to have been accepted by all three schools. While UW Madison is my top choice, it would be a great honor to attend any of these schools. I get excited every time I think about college because it means I am just one step closer to medical school, which brings me closer to a career in the health discipline.
I have been planning my life since I was little. I used to dream about architecture until discovering my passion for healthcare and science. Now I cannot picture wanting to be anything but a doctor. I did vast research into the type of doctor I should be. Eventually I found the perfect career for me-a general physician. I am one who seeks knowledge and wants to apply it to every situation, so a general physician would be the perfect career. I have even participated in a job shadow program with a general physician, which has only affirmed my resolution to become one.
When I’m not dreaming of my future or learning in class, I am enjoying my time with friends and participating in several clubs and activities. Joining the cast of a musical and scaring people at the Sparta House of Shadows has really brought out my creative side. Clubs like HOSA, FBLA, and Earth Club have connected me more to my community. I love doing volunteer work for each of these activities, especially Earth Club and the House of Shadows. I continued to do volunteer work with each club long after I met my school’s 40 hours of community service requirement. I have dedicated more than 200 hours to volunteering for each organization. The rest of my time is used to spend time with family. My family is my whole world and I wish to make them proud by being the best person I can be. I want to realize all my potential and I know this scholarship will help me do that.
