Carl’s Answer

Hi Chloe. Entry-level cybersecurity hourly pay typically ranges from $25 to $40, however, location significantly influences this range. Areas with a higher cost of living generally offer higher wages. Furthermore, obtaining relevant certifications can lead to a higher starting hourly rate, even at the entry-level.

Gayathri’s Answer

Hay, chloe!

The minimal hourly pay for a career in cybersecurity can vary widely depending on factors such as experience, education, certifications, and the specific role. However, as of 2023, entry-level cybersecurity positions in Maryland typically start at around 25to35 per hour. This translates to an annual salary of approximately 52,000 to 73,000. For someone like Cholie, who is living in Maryland, the exact hourly wage will depend on the specific job title and the employer.
For example: Security Analyst:
Entry-level positions might start around 25 to 30 per hour.

Network Security Administrator: These roles might start at around 30 to 35 per hour.

Cybersecurity Specialist: Entry-level positions could start at around 28 to 33 per hour.

It's important to note that these figures are approximate and can vary. Additionally, as Cholie gains more experience and potentially earns relevant certifications (such as CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+), their earning potential will likely increase.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it would be beneficial to look at job postings in Maryland and consider reaching out to local employers or professional networks in the cybersecurity field.

Chinyere’s Answer

Hi Chloe,

For entry-level positions in cybersecurity with minimal experience, the hourly pay can vary depending on location, company, and specific job role. On average, entry-level cybersecurity jobs in the United States typically offer around $15 to $25 per hour. However, this can be higher in certain regions or industries with a higher demand for cybersecurity professionals.

It's a great field to get into, with plenty of opportunities for growth and advancement as you gain more experience and skills. Do you have any specific areas of cybersecurity that interest you, or are you exploring general entry-level roles?

Best wishes!

Angus’s Answer

Hi Chloe,

An entry level Cyber Security position for someone either just entering the workforce or coming out of college/uni is around $60-90k annually AUD.
That equates to like $37.6K to $56.5K annually in USD.
Obviously there are some differences in working rights between countries, and employers have different parameters on employment. However, cyber security is booming industry and is highly desired in our tech workforce.
All the best,
Angus
