Hey Blair,
How is the Architectural Adventures going.
So, Firstly I really love your dedication and the architect's spirit!
Now Before you grab your drafting pencil, let’s talk about hidden gems in the journey to becoming an architect.
Beyond the Usual—Unlock Your Inner Architect-umm-lets say Magic!
🏗 Okay so, You don’t need to be da Vinci, but sketching on the go sharpens your spatial awareness. Doodle buildings, street layouts, and weird structures you see.
🛠 Remember Architecture isn’t just drawing; it’s problem-solving. Experiment with cardboard models, LEGO, or 3D design software (SketchUp is a fun start).
📸 Photography = Observation Training – Snap photos of buildings, bridges, and urban spaces. Ask yourself: Why does this structure work? What makes it aesthetic AND functional?
🌍 Travel (Even Virtually!) – Can't hop on a plane? No worries huh I never tried hopping on one maybe next time I Wil so yeah there is Google Earth, architecture documentaries, and virtual museum tours let you "walk through" famous buildings worldwide.
🤝 Network Like a Pro because it is the new world now– Architects love talking about their work! Attend architecture talks, connect on LinkedIn, and visit open houses or university events. You never know who might offer mentorship or an internship.
🎭 In Architecture – Every building tells a story. Work on presenting your ideas clearly and confidently—good architects don’t just design; they persuade. You will know this better than ever and someday your own architecture stories will be made and I will be sure to tag around too.
🎮 Gaming Can Help – Ever played Minecraft, The Sims, or Cities: Skylines? These games train spatial thinking and give you an edge in urban planning concepts. Okay so maybe they are games but believe me I have seen engineers (including my dad when he was designing his own clinic) build and construct the platform to give an take an understanding and I was surprised too but now it's normal so give it a shot.
Now now I may not be a an architects but I always been told that they diffenetely. Need These Superpowers
First outmost important in every career is, well,
🔥 Patience – Great designs take time. Lots of it. (Your first sketches? They will be bad. Keep going!)
Now don't forget that🎯 Attention to Detail – That one miscalculation? Could mean a crooked building. No pressure!
🧠Have Flexibility – Clients, budgets, and city regulations love to ruin plans. Stay adaptable.
🛎 Befor ewe finish to the last don't forget there is the - Communication – Architects don’t work in caves. You’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, and clients. Clear communication = fewer headaches.
Final Blueprint: Keep It Fun & Keep Learning! Because without fun it's not learning it's stressing your brain cells!
Architecture isn’t just a career—it’s a way of seeing the world. So keep exploring, building, and pushing creative boundaries.
And don’t forget—Iryna gave you GOLD advice! Definitely follow her recommendations, then stack these extra skills on top. You’ve got this and I am here to support you or just give you advice which ever helps do let me know if you need anything else future architecture! 🚀
