Hi Bennett! Building study habits can be tough, especially if you didn't need to study much before. But don't worry, you've got this! Quizlet has become my go-to tool. After every lecture, I create a Quizlet set and review it daily until the exam. It's been a game-changer! Seeing a tutor is also a fantastic idea. Even if you're not having a hard time with the material, tutors are amazing for helping you organize your learning and ensuring you're on track. Keep up the great work!

Hey Bennett,

I had a few rules when it came to course work.

1. If you don't understand then make time to go see your professor during office hours.

2. If you get below a B on 1 exam then you need to be in office hours and in tutoring at minimum 2x per week. You may be studying but you might not be doing it as effectively or well as you could be.... and you're teetering on the edge of potentially having to drop a course if you don't improve was my thought.

3. Study groups help.

4. Find the method of studying that helps you the most. lol I was not a hand written note guy. I can type faster than I can write. I've always used one note. undergrad, my professional life, and grad school. It works for me so that's what I adhere to.

5. Ask around like you're doing. there are often workshops and things on campus that will provide some helpful tips to you as well on studying properly.

Hi Bennett -

One highly effective strategy I found was to utilize any extra time in the classroom, especially when a class ended early. This time can be used to get a head start on assignments or to enhance and review your notes. This strategy is particularly beneficial as the lessons are still fresh in your mind and you are naturally focused on the subjects that have just been discussed.

When it comes to personal study, the environment is key. Seek out a location with minimal distractions. If your home doesn't fit the bill, consider a public library. It's also beneficial to have a study partner who can help keep you on track and hold you accountable.

It's also advisable to take some time to identify your typical distractions and devise strategies to overcome them. This way, you'll be prepared and won't be caught off guard if you start to get distracted.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful!

I highly recommend getting to know your professors by going to their office hours and making sure that you are studying the correct material and have all your questions about the material answered. Even if you are doing well, it is good to have that human connection established.
