Building your skills in different areas can help you find what you truly enjoy and give you the chance to shine. Sometimes, career paths appear by chance, opening doors to new experiences and learning. Other times, it's your passion that drives you to chase a dream. Start by making a short film. Write a simple script that can be easily produced. Use your phone camera and start your journey as a filmmaker. Try your hand at producing, directing, writing, acting, and creating content. Discover what you love and go after those opportunities.

You can do it!

Hi there, working across genres is great and will give you exposure to different types of sets, skills, and scope. Even though the foundation is quite similar (as in good cinematography is good cinematography, etc.) an intimate drama or contained thriller will have different parameters than a large sci-fi film shot in a studio with tons of green screen or CGI. Depending on the stage in your career, I'd try to get work on as many different productions as possible, from shorts and small indies to bigger sets, so that you can be exposed to all of it. Also, if you're starting out, work for different departments to learn and experience what each does in practice, not just in theory. It will serve you for the rest of your career. As you get more defined in the direction, you'll find the type of stories and genres you are more naturally drawn to and start focusing. Best of luck.
