Hi Josseline
It's great that you are thinking ahead about your college semester. Starting early on planning ahead is the key to success!
1. Plan ahead - your semester- but also your path to a degree. What are the courses you would want to take that fit into your long-term goals? What subject excites you? What kind of skills do you want to build through college that will help in your long-term career goals?
2. Talk to your seniors about which classes work and why. This is important to understand because your idea of a course, course instructor and so on might be different from what it is actually like to do that course.
3. Similarly, it may be useful to network with some professors in your area of interest/study. Most of the times they welcome students who drop by to understand the subject and provide insights into the larger area of study. This can lead to mentorship opportunities, research projects or just valuable career insights!
4. If you are unclear about long term goals then, it might be a good idea to meet/job shadow/ talk to professionals in your fields of interest such as mechanical engineering, veterinary studies.
5.It may also be a good idea to drop in to the college career center. They will help you with sorting out your interests, values, resume building and even prep you for interviews.
