Should I write NEET and be a doctor or take any paramedical courses?

So i am type of student who get above 70 or 75 out of 80 in science and most of the subject also 2nd or 3rd in class till 9th. Now i am going to be in 10th, scared of board etc.. But the thing is i am soo confused on what to take after. Should i write NEET and be a doctor or any paramedical courses? But the thing about NEET is, u have to spend almost a year after 12th to prepare for the NEET and i want to get in merit, if i don't get it my one year is wasted but incase if i got in 5 years of MBBS and 2-3 year of the specialised course, Let's just say 10 year of studies. Somewhere in my heart it says u can do it, ur capable but the same heart also says what if u can't and all. I am confused what should i do? Will i get a nice career? Should i do NEET and after that MBBS? Or should i take any paramedical courses like CVT etc?

I am in 10th, and for me any subject that is easy to learn is my fav and i get nice marks in science 2nd or 3rd in classes

You're doing great academically — being 2nd or 3rd in class and scoring 70+ in science shows you’re capable. Here’s a clear and short answer for your confusion:

Short Answer (Like a Human):

If you really like science and helping people, give NEET a try.
You're already showing strong performance. Yes, NEET is hard, but not impossible — especially if you start early and stay consistent. If you try NEET and don’t make it, you still have solid backup options like paramedical (CVT, radiology, etc.), which are good careers too.

So, prepare for NEET in 11th and 12th seriously. If after 12th you feel unsure, then go for a paramedical course. Nothing gets wasted — **either way, you’ll end up in a good healthcare career.**

Proof/Reality Check:

1. NEET Facts:

* 23+ lakh students appeared in NEET 2024.
* Around 1 lakh MBBS seats in India.
* Top students prepare during 11th-12th, so starting now helps.
* Dropping a year is optional, not mandatory.

2. Paramedical Careers:

* 2–4 years of study.
* Courses like CVT, Radiology, Nursing, etc.
* High demand, quicker job options.

3. Career Growth:

* Doctors: Long study, high respect, good pay later.
* Paramedics: Shorter study, faster job, less stress.

What You Should Do Now:

* Focus hard in 10th, get strong in science.
* Explore NEET syllabus — watch videos, solve basics.
* See what excites you more: being a doctor or doing hands-on support work (like CVT).
* Talk to real doctors and paramedics if possible.

Karan’s Answer

Hi Hina,

At your current stage, it is hard to predict the future and confidently identify what you want out of it.
Its great that you are thinking so far ahead but its okay to not have it figured out.

If you are inclining so much towards a medical profession, I would suggest you take up Medical stream after 10th Boards.
In those 2 years, you will have enough time to decide on what to do next. Moreover, after spending some time in medical studies, you will know some more things about how you'll do in similar education if you were to take it up for another 10 years. Hence, you'll be better positioned to take a call.

Even if you feel like changing fields, worry not. At this stage it is NEVER EVER TOO LATE. You will always have ample options, time, energy and resources to do what you feel like.

Charlotte’s Answer

Hi Hina,
You're doing great to start thinking about your future early. Based on your strong science marks and class rank, you are definitely capable of preparing for NEET and becoming a doctor if you want to. NEET and MBBS will take longer (5–10 years including specialization), but they offer high respect, good salary, and many career options. Paramedical courses like CVT are shorter (2–4 years) and lead to quicker jobs, but usually with lower salary and fewer opportunities compared to MBBS. Since you're still in 10th, focus now on building strong basics in biology, physics, and chemistry. Later in 11th and 12th, you can start NEET preparation seriously, and if you feel passionate and ready, you should go for it. If you later decide it's too stressful, switching to paramedical is a smart backup. Either way, with your abilities and hard work, you will have a good career in healthcare.

Rajashri’s Answer

Hi Hina,

You're doing great out there and it is absolutely okay to go through the confusion; it is because you care enough to build a career. You are very capable of studying in the program of MBBS after NEET even if its for 5-10 years as long as you're drawn to the subject of medicine and are eager to help people (as a bigger picture of things). Take your time, during these two years of 11th and 12th and basis how you're liking the subjects, take a call. Perhaps connect with people who are in the same field you want to go into and get their advice, that would help. And believe me 1 year spent in preparation is not at all a long time even if things don't go as planned, but I am confident that things will go very well your way!

All the best :)
