What is the best technique to balancing college academics with personal life?#Spring25?

Hello, I am currently a senior in high school looking to further my education at college to attain a bachelors degree in marine biology. I love hiking, doing crafts, and being active, so I know this is going to be hard to balance with college since college is going to be difficult, and take a lot of time, patience, and discipline to complete. So, learning any new techniques or advice that could help make this process slightly more manageable would be immensely helpful. I want to be able to balance my personal life with college, ensuring I am both successful and content with my personal life/mental health, and academics. #Spring25

Evelyn’s Answer

I suggest setting specific times for college work and personal health right from the start, making them a regular part of your schedule. If it's not scheduled, it might not happen. Include these in your daily routine. Always give importance to your mental and physical health. Try to discover when you feel most productive and use that time for studying.

Magda’s Answer

Hi Aviana, I found that making weekly schedules really helped me. Every Sunday, I'd check what was coming up—homework, projects, tests—and plan for those first. Then, I'd fit in time for fun stuff. It felt like a reward; once I finished my tasks, I could do things I love, like shopping or eating out. Studying at a local coffee shop is also a great idea. You can get your work done and enjoy a bit of social time too. It sounds like you're already planning ahead, which is awesome! Just remember to listen to your body and take some time to enjoy life as well! :)

Hi Aviana,

When I started college, I focused on education first. It's tough to cut back on activities and personal life, but you need to be responsible and dedicated from the start. Prioritize college tasks like homework, projects, and studying for exams. After a few months of making this your routine, you'll find some free time for personal activities. Being dedicated and responsible is crucial for getting a job after college. It’s hard at first, but I believe you can do it!
