Matilde’s Answer

Employers know this is your first job, so what matters most is your eagerness to grow and learn new things, showing interest in the work and asking questions when you’re not sure. That kind of attitude stands out.
Basic organization, being able to manage your time and tasks. A positive attitude, being friendly, motivated, and open to helping others.
Being polite and clear with both customers and coworkers. Being respectful and able to work well with others. And also how reliavle you are: showing up on time and following through on responsibilities.

Anna’s Answer

That’s great that you’re already thinking about gaining work experience! At 15, most employers understand that you might not have much (or any) job experience yet, so they’ll be looking for skills like reliability, a good attitude, and a willingness to learn. It’s helpful to show that you can be on time, follow directions, work well with others, and communicate clearly. If you’ve done any volunteering, school projects, or extracurricular activities (like sports, clubs, or helping out at home), you can mention those as examples of responsibility and teamwork.

Depending on the job, basic math skills, customer service, or being comfortable using a computer might also be useful, but don’t worry if you’re still learning. Just be ready to show that you’re motivated and ready to work hard—that’s what employers value most for first-time jobs!

Focus on your people skills, and don't be afraid to learn new skills. Ask lots of questions, try different things. For sure computer skills are good - but you're probably pretty versed in that already. I love to ask people - how did you choose this job? or how did you choose this industry? Be curious, be willing to be wrong and course correct. Employers are looking for people who are easy to work with, are coachable and follow instructions, and who take initiative. They don't expect you to have a lot of experience or skills at your age - they are hiring you because of YOU and how easy of a person you are to work with.
