Hello, Kuhlokwakhe !
A career in modeling is very serious and requires a lot of focus, time, discipline and life experience. It's not a list of names of anything, however, there is a good way and a haphazard way to approach this career and I'd be happy to introduce you to some information about it. First and foremost, you will have to go to Modeling School to learn how to model. You need to know how to do the work as with any other career. It's not an easy job nor do people become models simply because they want to.
The first thing to realize is that modeling is a subjective and opinion business. You will be evaluated for your looks and what is needed for a project at the time. You will need to know exactly what to do for print, runway, film, television and any other type of modeling project you are chosen for. You will also have to be willing to invest financially for training, photos, makeup and a collection of a variety of fashion clothing. You also have to be familiar with the top fashion designers so that when names are dropped, you know the style of the designers.
That being a dose of reality first, now lets see which Modeling Schools you can apply to because there are none in your town. It is crucial to be trained professionally if you want good projects. MSA Model Management & Agency offers professional training for those in South Africa. So does Figure Models South Africa. Also look into The Model Academy. Also Ace Models, and there's one called Ice Models. You can find their websites online through a search. Keep in mind that applying to Modeling School does not necessarily mean you'd be accepted. They choose people that have potential to get a lot of work as the agencies do make a commission for the work they send their models out for.
One does not "enter" modeling, they are chosen, so if you can feel comfortable with that, you can develop the drive to not give up on pursuing this career. It won't always be comfortable, either. The glamour you see in magazines and on videos takes a whole team to put together, lots of work and what you're seeing is the end product which looks great. So, truthfully, this is not an easy career, but can be achieved, but one must have a realistic viewpoint of how the business is run. I do not recommend aiming for modeling gigs until you are fully trained. You'll learn how to start this career through Modeling School. To do it otherwise will be a struggle.
So more than starting out with names of agencies and places that get models work, you really need to start training first and learn how the business is. Once you are trained, you will need to be available 24/7, everyday, in order to go to interviews and "go sees". You will also need to be able to travel to the locations where the projects are.
Most of the models I have known or knew of obtained most of their work and opportunities by people they knew. It is crucial in this business to network heavily and develop contacts so that opportunities happen for you. It's a very social business, including attending industry parties, Fashion Week events and lots of fashion shows. This business will keep you busy !
I hope this puts it into perspective and that you are ready to attend Modeling School and make the necessary investments of time, energy and cost so that your path to this career is an enjoyable one ! Best wishes to you !
