Hi! To prepare for OT school, I would recommend getting as many volunteer hours as possible at a local hospital , children’s center, hospice , etc . A lot of students find jobs as a hospital rehab tech which is great experience ! Your undergraduate degree can be in anything science , such as biology , kinesiology .

Great question! Your undergraduate degree can literally be anything but you want to make sure that some of the classes you take will count towards your OT prerequisites. If you know that an OT graduate program will require a certain psychology class or sociology class or biology class, make sure that your major includes those types of classes. Some colleges have a general health sciences degree (not sure of the exact name) but it is for people that know that they want to go into OT or PT or some other related graduate program. You get a good understanding of the body and also are able to meet your prerequisites. You could always talk to a counselor or advisor in the allied health sciences department or OT department for further recommendations.

To become an occupational therapist, you will need to earn a master's degree in occupational therapy. But first, you need to complete a bachelor's degree. There is no exact major required, but some majors can better prepare you for graduate school. Good options include health sciences, psychology, kinesiology, etc.

While in college, make sure to take the required prerequisite courses for occupational therapy programs. Every school may have slightly different requirements, so check with the graduate programs you're interested in early on.

Before reaching your goal, there are a few things you can do now. First, volunteer or get experience in a healthcare setting, especially in places where occupational therapists work, such as hospitals, schools, or rehab centers.

You should also focus on keeping your grades high, especially in science and health classes. This will help you get accepted into a good college and later into a competitive occupational therapy program. Good luck.

If you're interested in becoming an occupational therapist, consider studying Psychology, Health Sciences, Biology, or Occupational Therapy in college. These subjects help you learn about human behavior, the body and healthcare, which are important for this career.
Try to get some experience by volunteering or working in places like hospitals or rehab centers or with people who have physical or developmental challenges. It's important to have good communication and empathy skills. Keep your grades up because graduate programs can be competitive. Start researching occupational therapy schools early to understand what they require, including entrance exams and courses you need to take.

Following these steps will help you be a well-prepared and motivated future occupational therapist.Good luck on your journey! :)
