List the most recent work you have done and then expound as much as possible on your positions that align with the current job your applying. Also, list all of your skills and attributes that would help make you a good candidate for the job you are pursing. I hope this helps!

Hi Margaret. You can make your resume stand out by focusing on your transferable skills, education, and any related experience you already have. Employers look for potential and enthusiasm, not just past job titles. The key is to show that you understand what merchandising involves and that you already have the skills to succeed in the role.
You need to carefully read the job description. Identify the main skills and responsibilities, such as attention to detail, organization, teamwork, or an understanding of sales and product presentation. Then, highlight times when you have demonstrated these abilities, even if they were in other types of work. For example, if you worked in retail, you may have helped organize displays, restock shelves, or assist customers, all of which relate directly to merchandising.
Education and coursework can also help strengthen your resume. List any classes or projects related to marketing, business, design, or consumer behavior. If you've worked on a group project where you analyzed products or created a presentation, describe it briefly under a "Relevant Projects" section. You can also mention any certifications, online courses, or workshops you've completed. All the best!

In my opinion, with little experience, your cover letter becomes very important. Emphasize your passion and drive to succeed. Maybe acknowledge all the public materials you read to stay current with the latest fashion and trends. One of my favorite go to's for make years has been Women's Wear Daily. There are also make you tube videos of fashion shows, by designer, from Milan, Paris, and New York.
You've already begun by asking the right questions. You'll do very well!!!

To make your resume stand out without experience, I recommend highlighting transferable skills and projects that demonstrate your related experience. Merchandising roles require creativity and business acumen, and you can demonstrate this with examples from school or life.
Think about the key skills needed for a merchandising job, and then draw on your past experiences to demonstrate them. To build your experience, consider volunteering for an organization.

Make sure in addition to listing your job duties, that you list accomplishments. It may seem small, but it shows the hiring manager initiative, that you took steps to fix that problem or help a co-worker, etc.
List any volunteering you do, and make sure to list ALL technical skills.
Go through the job listing and check it against your resume. If you have that skill, make sure it is on your resume. A lot of companies use software that picks resumes based on keywords. So get to know the jargon for the filed you are interested in and tailor your resume to meet that.
