What are good careers in Education and Phycology to be financially stable ?

I've always worried about making enough in a career as a first generation eldest daughter from a minority family. I am a dual enrollment high school senior, which should graduate with over 60 hours of college. Yet, I still don't know if I should directly go into a education major, as a back up, or if I should start in PYCH first. I have been looking into becoming a ABA therapist, because of the lack of it in my city. Any recommendations or advice?

I'm assuming by phycology you mean psychology? If you want to go into ABA in particular, I would recommend you look into whether your university has a program within the education department that is specific to helping teach students with autism or other special needs. You could major in Psychology and have a minor in Education with a concentration on autism/special needs/ however your school words it. Or you could go vice versa and major in Education with a minor in Psychology, whatever feels right to you!

Dr. Li’s Answer

Instructional design is an important skill in education that is valuable in tech, especially in pre-sales or sales enablement roles. The pay is generally good, and there are many tools to learn. Having a background in psychology can make you a more attractive candidate for tech jobs that involve instructional design.
Thank you comment icon Thank you, Dr Li, I had never considered that. I will definitely look into it. Nirali
