Hi Kailynn. One of the best ways to stay on top of assignments and avoid sleeping in is by setting up a routine. Try to wake up and go to bed at the same time every day. When your body gets used to a schedule, it's easier to get up on time and stay focused throughout the day. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

If you struggle to get up in the morning, consider placing your alarm or phone across the room from your bed. That way, you have to physically get up to turn it off, making it harder to fall back asleep. You might also try using sleep apps that wake you up during a light sleep phase, so you feel more refreshed and ready to start the day.

When it comes to assignments, you can break them down into smaller tasks. Instead of waiting until the last minute, spread out your work over several days. For example, if you have a big paper due in a few weeks, break it down into steps: do research one day, write an outline the next, and so on. This makes big tasks feel less overwhelming and helps you avoid procrastinating.

Staying organized is important too. You can use a planner or an online calendar to keep track of deadlines and important dates. You can also set reminders so you don't forget about assignments, tests, or meetings. Checking your planner every day will help you stay on top of everything.

Hi Kailynn,

Apart from all the good advice you got already: If you are a serious sleeper, make sure to acquire a good friend who will stop by your place in the morning before e.g. an important early exam.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!

To start college on the right foot, it's helpful to build good habits now. Think about how you study and figure out what works best for you. Keep track of assignments, tests, and events with Google Calendar to stay organized. Set up a quiet study area, try focus techniques like the Pomodoro method, and stick to a regular sleep schedule. Go to every class, finish small tasks quickly, and join study groups that focus on learning.

Use your time well by grouping similar tasks, planning breaks, and setting reminders. If you fall behind, take a moment to adjust your plan instead of worrying. Make the most of campus resources like the Academic Advising Office and Counseling Center. Joining clubs can also help you stay balanced and motivated. By following these tips and managing your time well, you can develop the habits needed to start college on time, stay productive, and succeed.
