Hi Mackenzie!!

Finding scholarships often works best when you combine multiple tools, rather than relying on just one.

One of the most useful starting points is your university’s financial aid office and internal scholarship portal. Many students overlook these, but they often include scholarships that are less competitive and specifically tailored to your major, career goals, or state residency.

In addition, state-specific resources (such as Ohio’s higher education or workforce development websites) can be very helpful, especially for students in public universities or fields related to public service, criminal justice, or social work.

For broader searches, platforms like Fastweb, Scholarships.com, and College Board’s Scholarship Search are effective when used consistently. Setting up alerts and applying regularly—even to smaller awards—can add up over time.

Finally, talking directly with academic advisors, professors, or internship supervisors can open doors to opportunities that aren’t always widely advertised.

The most effective approach is staying organized, applying early, and treating scholarship searches as an ongoing process rather than a one-time task.
