What are my best options for financial aid besides filling out the FAFSA? #Fall25

I am a high school senior who is receiving my associate's degree alongside my diploma when I graduate in May 2026. I plan on pursuing a major in Wildlife Biology and want to get at least my Master's of Science. I am relying heavily on financial aid and scholarships to cover college, as I don't want to pull out loans and be in debt. I have already completed the FAFSA and don't qualify for the Federal Pell grant or much else. I have already been applying to numerous scholarships, in hopes of coverage, but have had no luck. What is my best course of action here?

Call the financial aid office at your future college to ask about programs specific to your major or any lesser-known scholarships. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Also, contact your high school's guidance office for college counseling services and extra insights. During your holiday break, research if your community offers scholarships for volunteer work or hobbies you enjoy. Your local library can also be a great resource, as librarians can guide you to useful information. Lastly, consider joining the military if you're worried about student debt. My brother joined the National Guard to play trumpet in the Army Band and earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees, both paid for by the Guard. This is a very personal choice, but it's an option if you're interested in military service and reducing student debt.
