Dear Mayret,

Thanks for your question .

I would say, don't spend more than what is required for anything , pay as much as you can whenever you have extra money towards the loan . If you can stay with your parents and save money, then do it .

If you can get some scholarships , please try to apply for them. There will be opportunities to work , take it if you can manage your studies with it.

If you can use used books, it can help you save money as well .

Hope this helps !

Thanks and Regards,
Jerin

Mayret,

This is a great question and one I always considered in my college planning. Here are a few things I always considered:

-go to school where you get the best value. The most expensive school is usually not going to give you any better of an education than most other options that can be much more affordable.
-be frugal. Make sure you are budgeting and creating good financial/spending habits now.
-save as much before school as you can to help limit the amount of loans you need
-look for scholarships and grants! They are everywhere! Talk to the financial department at your university to get good opportunities that may be specific to your school.
-look for loan repayment programs for after you graduate. Start looking into that now so you can plan for where to work after graduation. Some places you work may allow you to qualify for some amazing loan repayment programs!
-consider working part time during school. This one is not for everyone. Do not sacrifice giving the time you need to your education but if you are confident in your abilities to perform in school, part time work can help decrease your loan needs.

Hope that helps! Good luck
