A question I often think about is whether the study habits and discipline I’m building today will be enough to carry me through college and into a competitive career field. I wonder what skills I’ll need to develop now to make my future professional goals achievable.
I'm a graduating high school senior. Next year I will be attending the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

Hi James,
Something to keep in mind: Joining the workforce requires a different mindset than what you'll need in college. In college you have 3 months of cramming in very broad yet complicated concepts, It's a sprint to finish assignments on time and study for exams. However in my opinion and the opinion of others in my field ( engineering) working is in may ways far easier than college as the pace can be drastically slowed. Now progress in measured in years and not months, furthermore there can be significant downtime between busy seasons. All of that is to say: You'll be fine, adapt your study habits as the need arises, and you won't really know how to do that until you've done so. Hopefully this makes sense.
