What do you you wish you knew before choosing antitrust or M&A as your specialty?
I’m a freshman majoring in business analytics. Since 9th grade I wanted to practice one of those areas of law. I’m hoping to learn what to expect.

M&A is heavily deadline-driven, with a lot of pressure to complete closings at end-of-month, end-of-quarter, and end-of-fiscal. At junior levels especially, much of the work is high-volume, low level, monotonous, and short notice. Expect to work late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Hi Alyse: Sorry but I never did either. I just tried Civil cases. M&A and anti-trust is paper heavy - tons of balance sheets and tax forms. Not my cup of tea!
If you are thinking about it - an accounting degree and/or business degree are something you should look at.
Good luck.
