A Public Health major can lead to careers in community health education, health program coordination, epidemiology support, environmental health, health policy, and nonprofit or global health work. If you want to become an Occupational Therapist, you typically complete a 4 year bachelor’s degree followed by a 2 to 3 year accredited OT master’s or doctoral program, plus clinical fieldwork and a licensing exam. The process is academically demanding, especially with science and anatomy coursework, but students who stay organized, seek support, and stay committed to helping others are very capable of succeeding.

Hi Grace,
this is a very interesting question combining specialties that are not often seen together. From a public health/health equity perspective you might consider that your niche would best serve those that are cognitively or developmentally disabled (either organically or due to injury). This is certainly an underserved community that would have need for OT. To that end, I would recommend a dual major in OT and public health. In addition, I would recommend taking courses in special education as you'll find children with autism or Down Syndrome are in need of OT.
