What is the most important thing in your dental school application?
Also, how do I go about studying for the DAT? If I struggle with math, what should I study for the quantitative reasoning portion of the exam?

Give Kaplan books a try; that's what I used. I also joined study groups on Facebook, where we supported each other. I agree with Ponnu's advice for everything else. I highly recommend visiting a local dentist for shadowing. This can give you a great understanding and they might write you an excellent letter of recommendation. Plus, they may know other dentists or work at a local university, offering more insight into what schools in your area are looking for.

Hi Alexa,
The most important thing in your dental school application is a combination of strong academic performance—especially in the sciences—and meaningful, well-articulated motivation for pursuing dentistry. Dental schools closely review your undergraduate GPA (particularly in science courses), DAT scores, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and evidence of commitment to the field (such as shadowing, volunteering, and extracurriculars).
