Hi Aubrie. One of the strongest indicators that teaching may be right for you is the joy you already feel when working with children. You said that kids brighten your day, and that's important. Teachers spend a lot of time helping, guiding, and supporting students, so enjoying being around young people is a strong start. But teaching is also more than liking kids. It involves patience, planning, communicating clearly, and dealing with challenges. Thinking about whether you enjoy these responsibilities can help you understand the job better.

To gain more clarity, you need to look back at what you've done these past three years. What moments made you feel excited about becoming a teacher? Did you enjoy tutoring, volunteering, or taking education-related classes? When you imagine your future, do you see yourself in a classroom helping students learn? Thinking about what experiences felt meaningful or fun to you can give you clues about whether this path is a good fit.

It also helps to get more real-life experience. If you can, try volunteering in a classroom, helping at an after-school program, tutoring younger kids, or shadowing a teacher for a day. These experiences show you what teaching is actually like. If you find that even the challenges feel manageable or worth it, that's a strong sign you may be choosing the right career.

Hi Aubrie,

It's perfectly normal to have doubts, especially with big future decisions. Your reflection shows maturity and thoughtfulness!

Loving children is a great start for a future teacher, but teaching involves so much more. It's about helping others learn, managing groups, adapting, and inspiring students, even on hard days.

I suggest getting real-world experience before fully committing. Try shadowing a teacher, volunteering with kids, or talking to current educators. You might also take some beginner education classes or help with after-school programs or tutoring.

You're doing great by thinking this through. You'll find a path that suits you!
