An internship can be a great way to break into the industry. In case those opportunities are limited, try to find someone working in forensic science whom you can job shadow.
Look for professionals in the field who may have attended the same university as you, and ask to set up a short video meeting to learn more about what they do and how they got into their role. If the conversation goes well, you can then ask whether it might be possible to shadow them, even if it is only for a half day.
