Hi Joshua,

There are different ways to train as a baker. There are programs at Community Colleges that typically last 1-2 years.

You could also attend a culinary school for a baking and pastry arts program.

If you want to own your own business, some business classes would also be helpful. Before you can open your own bakery, you'll need a bunch of licenses too.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!

If you want to be a bakery or bakery plant baker, I'd recommend a community college program or something like that. I myself did a 12-week program in commercial baking. Practice a lot at home too. Get as much practice in as possible, and go to work right away. Real on the job experience is everything.

In terms of getting customers, I would work on creating community, creating space for your community. For example, I work for a gluten-free bakery. We participate in the coeliac community. Kid's summer camp, hospitals, etc. I met a lady who hosted after-coffee-and-donuts for a runners group. I believe that's key to really getting a firm establishment.

Hi Joshua,

Taking baking and business classes is a great idea. These courses will help you improve your skills and teach you how to make your business successful.

I know someone who owns a baking company, and here are some tips from her:

1. Try new recipes and keep notes on what works and what doesn't.
2. Have friends or family taste your baked goods and give honest feedback.
3. Connect with other bakers in person and online. Social media is a great place to find advice and share experiences.
4. Look for local craft fairs or food festivals where you can sell your products and meet others in the community.
5. Leave business cards or flyers on local advertising boards to spread the word about your business.

You're on the right track, and I believe in your success!
