How will I know that I want to major in a specific career?

I'm currently undecided but I want to do something that's related to baking and pastry, or anything with taking care of animals.

Try shadowing someone in this field to see if it's truly what you want. Spend time with a baker or pastry chef, and also with a vet or someone who works with animals. This will help you decide. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know that you have interest in baking and animals.
Below are my suggestions :
1. There are many careers related to baking and animals, e.g. pastry chef, cake designer, bakery manager, vet, zoologist, park ranger, etc. You can find out more related careers online
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant in cooking school / colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

It's great that you already have an idea of the industries you want to pursue! One thing you might consider is reaching out to professionals already in roles you're interested in to set up an "Informational Interview." This is just a short, casual conversation to learn about their experience—no pressure or job ask involved. It’s a great way to get real insight, grow your network, and understand what skills or majors might be helpful.

In regards to your interest in animal husbandry - taking care of animals can be difficult but rewarding work. To make sure you're up for the task, most zoos, aquariums, animal rescue orgs etc have volunteer opportunities where you can get hands-on experience. I personally volunteered at an aquarium and it was a really cool experience to interact with the animals and understand how they are taken care of behind the scenes. Getting some real-world insight first should help guide which academic path would be most useful for you - I wish you luck!
