My experience started by working in a major department store. I reported to the Assistant General manager. She knew a lot of the people working for designers we carried in the store. Also in that position I got to know the people who represented the designer to advocate for their line of clothing. So after a short time in the store I learned of a fashion line that needed a rep from another rep from a different designer. It was a very well connected group. I asked the Asst GM to recommend me to the office of that designer. Our store carried a lot of their product so they agreed. From there I went to New York, got to know the designer but also learned the line for each new season and then came back to my market to present that and advocate to the visual managers of each store for highlighting my line. Also knew public relations staff to help organize events and l knew general managers. It was a very exciting career. Hope that helps!!
