I am a retired high school teacher. The only way to do this is to get a special licence. These licenses are for people who have experience in the field. This may be difficult so I advise getting a 7-12 Science Endorsement. Look for a special high school that teaches Agriculture and apply.

Thank you for your dedication as a military spouse; it truly requires a lot of strength and adaptability. If you're aiming to become a high school agriculture teacher, consider pursuing a degree in Agricultural Education or related fields like Animal Science, Plant Science, or Agribusiness, along with a teaching certification for your state. Many universities offer these programs online, providing the flexibility you need. You’ll study subjects such as crop science, soil science, animal husbandry, agricultural mechanics, and education courses like classroom management and curriculum design. A student teaching requirement is part of the process, but programs often help arrange this wherever you're stationed. Look for schools that are military spouse-friendly, offering benefits like tuition assistance and priority enrollment. Also, explore the MyCAA scholarship program, which can help cover education costs. Start by researching online programs that fit your schedule and reach out to their admissions teams for guidance. They’re usually very helpful in creating a plan that suits your situation. Good luck!

Hi Amber! First of all, thank you for your service as a military spouse, that lifestyle takes a lot of strength and flexibility. For becoming a high school agriculture teacher, you'll want to focus on getting a degree in Agricultural Education or a related field like Animal Science, Plant Science, or Agribusiness, and then pairing it with a teaching certification for your state. The good news is that several universities offer these programs fully online, which is perfect for the flexibility you need with military life. Core classes you'd typically take include things like crop science, soil science, animal husbandry, agricultural mechanics, and education courses like classroom management, curriculum design, and student teaching methods. You'll also need to complete a student teaching requirement at some point, but many programs work with you to arrange that wherever you're stationed. I'd also recommend looking into programs that are specifically military spouse friendly, as some offer tuition assistance, priority enrollment, and extra support for relocations. On top of that, look into the MyCAA scholarship program which helps military spouses pay for education and certifications. Please start by researching online programs that fit your schedule and reach out to their admissions teams because they're usually great at helping you map out a plan that works with your unique situation. Hope this helps!
