What are the best ways for me to stay focused and get work done? And what should I focus on?

I'm in 6th grade and I'm having a hard time with stress right now the quarters almost over and I'm going to be in creative wrighting next quarter (I love wrighting) and I'm trying to keep up with school success I have till next Friday to get all my stuff done and I have Jujitsu Tuesdays Wendsdays and thursdays and theripy on wedsdays and I can't do anything today because I have girlscouts (cookie seaseon reflections) and then Im hanging with some freinds this weekend so I only really have class time (I have academic lab to work its part of my IEP) and I have ADHD and atisum and I have a hard time not geting distracted and Emailing freinds (theres a big thig happening with one of my freinds health so im stressed) and I feel like im over sharing right now! and I don't know what to focase on I want to get in to MassArts and becom a graphic designer so what should I me trying my hardest at?

Thank you comment icon Balancing 6th grade with ADHD and autism is a big challenge, but you can succeed by prioritizing and using your IEP. Focus your energy on Math and Language Arts; thhese are the core building blocks for your future dream of attending MassArt. Strong writing skills will also give you a head start in next quarter's creative writing class. To stay focused in Acedemic Lab, try the "Promodoro" method: work for 15 minutes, then take a 2-minute movement break. Since emailing friends is a distraction, try "body doubling", sit near a teacher who can help keep you on track. Remember, your friend's health is important, but you can only help them if you stay regulated yourself. Use your Girl Scouts and jiu-jitsu time as an award for the hard work you do during school hours. Clarence

Hi, here some ideas:
Try applying this strategy: Set a "worry timer." Give yourself 10 minutes to email or check in on your friend, then tell your brain, "I’ve checked on them, they are okay for now, and now I’m going to do 20 minutes of work."
The "Rule of Three": Don't look at the whole list of missing work. Pick the three smallest tasks and do those first during your lab. Getting them done will give you a "dopamine hit" that makes the bigger tasks easier.
You’re hanging out with friends this weekend—keep those plans! Just try to get one "big" thing done during your Academic Lab before the weekend starts.
Hope this helps!

I’m right there with you. First, everyone is different, while we may share advice on what worked for us, you still need to learn about yourself.
There are a lot of little things no one mentions, like forgetting to eat, or not noticing if you are cold or thirsty, which can impact your concentration.

I made a set of tools based on my experience, all of them are still pretty much drafts, but they can give you an idea: https://palfocus.vercel.app/pals

What works for me is having a clear routine, using reminders for self care, starting with smaller tasks to get moving, and looking for challenges and rewards.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know you have a wide variety of interest and participation in so many activities.
Firstly, you find a time management tool to help, eg ms outlook, Google calendar, phone calendar, etc.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Put down the time you need at attend the classes and go to therapist.
2. Assign some time every day on your projects & assignments. Review the material covered in the class everyday.
3. Allocate a few time every day to read emails and social media. Other than these time, keep the email and social media away
4. Make sure you have enough sleep and do some exercise
5. Allocate some time on the weekend for your leisure and friends & family gathering
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

What matters most right now is finishing the work due by next Friday. It doesn't need to be perfect, just completed.

Focus first on missing assignments, then those due soon, and finally, everything else. If it's not missing or due soon, it's not urgent.

If you have ADHD or get distracted easily, your brain just needs some structure. Try a 20-minute focus sprint by setting a timer for 20 minutes, choosing one assignment, and avoiding distractions. Take a 5-minute break when the timer ends, then repeat. You don't need motivation, just start for 20 minutes.

When emailing friends, remember that you can't help them by falling behind. Check messages only during breaks, not during your work time. This way, you protect your focus while still being a good friend.

Your schedule is busy with activities like jujitsu, therapy, Girl Scouts, and weekend plans. Use your academic lab time wisely as a distraction-free zone to complete 1-2 assignments each time.

As for MassArt and your future, know that this week doesn't decide your fate there. Focus on building art and design skills, keeping steady grades, and staying consistent. You're already on the right path by loving writing, thinking about the future, and asking for help.

For the next week, aim to complete 2-3 assignments each day, use 20-minute focus sprints, take academic lab time seriously, and message friends only during breaks. Don't aim for perfect; aim for done.

Finally, remember you're not behind in life, just overwhelmed at the moment. You don't need to try your hardest at everything, just the next small thing in front of you.
