Hi Srt! There are a ton of ways you could build something around track and cross country, and from my own experience I can tell you that the best businesses solve a real problem or make something easier for people. Some ideas that could work great for you: you could start a social media page or blog reviewing running shoes, gear, and nutrition for high school runners and eventually monetize it through affiliate links or sponsorships; you could organize local fun runs, 5Ks, or trail races in Benton and charge entry fees while partnering with local businesses for sponsorships; you could offer private or small-group coaching and training plans for younger runners or beginners in your community; you could design and sell custom team gear, race-day shirts, or motivational running apparel through a simple online store with no inventory using print-on-demand services; or you could even get into the data and analytics side by tracking runners' stats and creating performance dashboards for teams, which ties into what I do professionally since a big part of my career has been using data and analytics to improve processes and efficiency, like when I improved demand planning efficiency by 84% at one role or built out reports to reduce workload at another. The key to getting started is to pick one idea, keep it simple, and just launch it; you don't need it to be perfect on day one. I'd also suggest learning some basic business skills early like budgeting, marketing on social media, and building relationships with potential customers or sponsors, because in my consulting work I've seen firsthand that the people who succeed are the ones who can present their ideas clearly, build trust with stakeholders, and continuously improve their process. You've got four years of high school ahead of you, so start small, learn as you go, and by the time you graduate you could have a legit business and an incredible story for college applications!

One option is to help younger or beginner runners by sharing what you learn about training, stretching, and race preparation, which can grow into coaching as you gain experience and certifications. Another path is learning about injury prevention and recovery, like proper stretching and foam rolling, and sharing tips with teammates, which could eventually lead to a career in physical therapy for athletes, with your own practice.
You could also start a simple apparel business by designing and selling running shirts or hoodies that reflect your team or running culture using online platforms.

Hi Seth,
A business idea that solves a problem is always a great idea. If you want to start a business around track and cross country, start with something simple that connects to your sport. This could be things like coaching younger runners, creating training plans, selling running gear, or even sharing tips and workouts online.
You do not have to start big. Focus on one idea, try it out, and learn as you go. Pay attention to what other runners need and how you can help. Over time, you can grow it into something bigger as you gain more experience.
