Hi Tiffany, congrats on your acceptance, that's a huge deal! The truth is no scholarship is guaranteed, but you can absolutely find ones where you have a much stronger shot by going niche. Start with your university's financial aid office directly because they often have department-specific scholarships, donor-funded awards, and emergency grants that most students never even ask about. The real hidden gems are local and community-based scholarships from places like your city's rotary club, local businesses, credit unions, cultural organizations, and even your parent's employer, because fewer people apply to these so your odds jump way up. From my own experience, I was able to earn merit fellowships and scholarships that covered partial tuition, and a big reason was simply applying to things that aligned specifically with my background and goals rather than the big national ones everyone floods with applications. Professional associations in your field of study often have scholarships too, so whatever your major is, Google that industry's organizations and check their student award pages. Also look into scholarships tied to your specific identity, heritage, hometown, hobbies, or even quirky things like being left-handed or having a unique essay topic, because the more specific the criteria, the smaller the applicant pool. Set a goal to apply to a few per week, treat it like a part-time job, and remember that even small awards add up fast!
