How do I balance academics with extracurriculars, like band?
I'm currently a senior in high school that has been involved in band classes since middle school. I have auditioned for my college's band and have gotten in on a scholarship, but I am worried on how to balance my academics in a high demanding program. Does anyone have any tips?

Take advantage of this chance! Joining an extracurricular activity you love in high school or college keeps you passionate and balanced. It also helps you manage your time better by planning your days and weeks. Prioritizing tasks is crucial to meeting your goals. As a college athlete, I learned to be intentional with my time due to daily practice schedules alongside academics. Finding friends or roommates with similar goals can be beneficial, as they can serve as accountability partners. Remember, time management and handling competing priorities are skills you continue to develop throughout high school, college, and beyond.

Thank you for your question. Firstly, you need to find a time management tool to help, e.g. MS Outlook, Google Calendar, Phone calendar, etc.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Put down the time you need to attend classes every day
2. Assign some time every day on your assignments & projects. Review the material covered in the class on the day. If you have any question, ask the teacher on the next school day.
3. You can then allocate time on your extracurricular activities.
4. Make sure you have enough time to sleep and do some exercise
5. You may need to start the revision early before assessment
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
