Milla’s Answer

Hello Student,

B2B sales, or Business-to-Business sales, is all about companies selling their products or services to other businesses, rather than to individual customers.

The main goal is to build strong relationships, understand what businesses need, and offer solutions that help them grow, save money, or improve how they work.

Here's how it usually happens: a company finds potential clients, shows them their product or service, discusses terms, and creates a lasting partnership.

For example:
- A software company might sell management systems to a hospital.
- A marketing agency could work with a retail brand.
- An event company might provide services to corporate clients.
- Even my role as an artistic director or stage manager for live events is B2B sales.

B2B sales thrive on trust, good communication, and solving problems.

Warm greetings from Brazil!

Rajani’s Answer

Hi, B2B sales stands for Business-to-Business sales. It refers to transactions where one business sells products or services to another business, rather than to an individual consumer. For example, I work for a company that sells laptops, workstations, desktops, Printers etc. So when my company sells products to another corporate, company or government organisation it is B2b sales. This is sold either directly or through channel and there are different models through which sales happen. Also there are other functions involved like Supply chain, logistics etc. There are many courses that teach these streams. Please do explore.
regards,

Business to business sales is when one company sells its products or services to another company. This distinguishes it from commercial companies that sell their service or product direct to the consumer.

Dany’s Answer

Hey there!
B2B sales just means selling from one business to another business, instead of selling to individual consumers.
So instead of selling a product to one person, you’re helping a company solve a problem — like saving money, growing revenue, or working more efficiently.
How it usually works:

You talk to the business, ask questions, and understand their needs
You recommend a solution that actually fits their situation
More than one person is usually involved in the decision
It takes longer than consumer sales, but the relationships are deeper

At its core, B2B sales isn’t about pushing — it’s about helping companies make smart decisions. That’s why it connects so well with entrepreneurship and business development.

Angela’s Answer

Hi,

B2B sales stands for business-to-business sales. It means selling products or services from one company to another company, instead of selling directly to individual people.

Simple way to think about it

B2C sales: A business sells to you as a customer. For example, buying trainers, a phone, or food.
B2B sales: A business sells to another business. For example, a company selling software, computers, or networking equipment to a hospital, school, or bank.

What does a B2B salesperson do?
A B2B salesperson helps companies solve business problems, not just buy products. This often includes:

Understanding what a business needs
Explaining how a product or service can improve how they work
Building trust and long-term relationships
Working with multiple people, such as IT managers, finance teams, or decision-makers

B2B sales usually take longer than consumer sales because decisions are bigger, cost more money, and involve more people.
Easy example

A company sells networking equipment to a school so the students and teachers have reliable internet.
A software company sells security software to a business to protect their data.

Both of these are B2B sales, because the customer is a business, not an individual.
Why B2B sales can be a good career
B2B sales is about communication, problem-solving, and learning how businesses work. It is a role where you keep learning, build strong professional relationships, and see the real impact of what you sell. Many B2B sales roles also work closely with IT and networking teams, which makes it a good path for students interested in technology

Sam’s Answer

B2B sales (business-to-business) is just when a company sells to other companies instead of to regular consumers. Think of it this way: when you buy a coffee, that's B2C (business to consumer). But the coffee shop buying their espresso machine, their beans, and their POS software? That's all B2B.

A few things that make it different from regular sales:
- Bigger deals, longer decisions — more money involved means more people need to sign off
- Multiple stakeholders — you're rarely selling to just one person; there's usually a procurement team, a finance sign-off, an end user, maybe a legal review
- Relationship-driven — deals take weeks or months, so trust and communication matter a lot
- Value over features — buyers want to know how it helps their business, not just what it does

In short: you're selling to someone's work budget, not their personal wallet — so the process is more formal, more complex, and usually higher stakes.

Sarah’s Answer

B2B sales means business-to-business sales. It is when one company sells products or services to another company, rather than to individual consumers. Think of it as one organisation helping another organisation operate, grow, or solve a problem. For example if Amazon Web Services sells access to server capacity to a company so they can run their software application, this is an example of B2B sales.
B2B sales usually involve multiple stakeholders, not just one buyer and deals can take weeks or months because of approvals, budgets, and negotiations. Relationships are really important and often trust, credibility, and long-term value matter more than quick wins. You need to interested in learning how business works to be a really good B2B seller.
A good book on B2B selling is the Challenger Sale by Matt Dixon.

Sarah recommends the following next steps:

Pick 2 companies you admire and answer: What do they sell? Who are their customers? How do they make money?
Work on developing your listening skills
Work on developing your curiosity and your ability to ask good questions

Marisol’s Answer

B2B sales stands for “business-to-business” sales. It means a company sells products or services to another company instead of directly to individual customers.

For example, a software company selling accounting software to a bank, or a company selling office equipment to a hotel, are both examples of B2B sales.

Usually, B2B sales involve:

Building relationships with clients
Understanding the company’s needs
Presenting solutions or products
Negotiating pricing and contracts
Maintaining long-term partnerships

Compared to regular consumer sales, B2B sales often take longer because businesses usually make bigger decisions and involve multiple people before purchasing. Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills are very important in this field.
