What changes have you noticed within yourself after graduating college, or during college; are you satisfied with how you or your life has turned out now that you are older and (possibly) wiser ?

I'm a bit worried and excited about how i'll fare on a personal level in college. My parents haven't gone, so I'm going in blind. (Or, metaphorically, with cataracts.) I'm honestly just curious to see other people's experience in a post-college perspective.

I've realized I feel more confident in myself now. Some days, I still have doubts, but thinking about everything I've accomplished reminds me I'm here for a reason. All those late nights studying and long hours at the clinic have shaped me into the physician assistant student I am today. I've also learned to ask for help and am currently in therapy to manage my anxiety and panic attacks. I'm happy with the life I've built because I've managed to balance my personal and school life well, and I know my career will offer a more balanced lifestyle compared to other medical jobs.

Chelsea M.’s Answer

I love this question. When I was in college, I was laser-focused on my career and doing all the right things to land my dream role. I wanted to be the best of the best and do absolutely everything I could to immerse myself in campus and academic life. That season of my life served a purpose and I'm proud of all I accomplished but I have also realized over time that it is okay to change your mind or your passion. You are not a failure for doing so. Post-college, my eyes were opened to so much of the world and the many priorities that could pull my attention. It made me realize that life isn't about what you do for a living, but what you do with your life, if that makes sense. Your job/education is a piece of you, not all of you! If at any point something is not in alignment with how you want to be living your life - change course. It's not always easy to do so, but it will enlighten you!
