What happens if I don't get into nursing school?
Next year I will be going to Michigan State University for pre-nursing and I'll have to apply for the nursing school near the end of the school year, but I'm worried that I won't get in. What can I do to still become a nurse if I don't get in?

As a pre-nursing student, focus on doing your best in key classes like anatomy, physiology, chemistry, statistics, microbiology, and genetics. Excelling in these subjects can boost your GPA and make a strong impression. If you don't get into nursing school right away, don't worry. You can retake these courses to improve your grades. Also, gaining healthcare experience, like earning a certified nurse aide certificate, can greatly increase your chances. Keep pushing forward, and good luck!

Nursing programs are in high demand, and many students are eager to join this important field. While public programs may be full, there are private options available. Although they can be costly, choosing an accredited program is a smart investment. Even if you take on student loans, your earnings as a new graduate can help you pay them off quickly if you budget wisely. Once your loans are paid, you'll have learned valuable budgeting skills that can lead to a fulfilling and secure future.

Hi Winnie,
It's great that you want to become a nurse! Congratulations on getting into the pre-nursing program. That's the first step on your path. Don't worry too much about every step along the way.
Obviously, you want to maintain a high GPA in your pre-requisites. Aim to also get as much practical experience as possible. Ask about opportunities to volunteer or about jobs at the school or at a hospital.
If the worst should happen and you don't get in: you can become a nurse with just an associates degree. Check out community colleges in your area that offer nursing programs. You can upgrade to a bachelors later. Most nursing schools also have programs that allow you to transition from a non-nursing degree to a nursing degree. So, let's say you get a degree in biology, or maybe a different healthcare qualification. You can then join an accelerated program to become a nurse.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!
