What should I focus on the most to help get into medical school. #Spring26?

I'm about to finish my first year of university and just made the decision to become a medical examiner, and that means I have to go to medical school. I would like to know what classes are recommended to take and how to make my medical school application look the best it can.

If you're at a four-year university, start by visiting the pre-med department. They have a study plan for students aiming for medical school, outlining which courses to take and in what order. They'll help you schedule your classes so you don't miss any prerequisites, avoiding the need for summer courses or studying elsewhere. You'll also need to take the MCAT, the test for medical school admission. If you're not at a four-year university, don't worry. You can still get advice from an academic advisor on which courses to take and how to transfer if needed.

Getting into medical school is challenging, but you can succeed by focusing on a few key areas. Stay consistent and disciplined, as university courses are tough and require good grades for your application. Gain shadowing, volunteering, and lab or research experience to make your application stand out. Connect with older students who recently got into medical school and talk to your professors about your goals to get helpful advice.
