When being interviewed, what is a good response to give when they ask you a question you do not know how to answer??

I do not want to blurt out something random, but I also do not want to stall. How can I answer professionally even when I am unsure?

Davide’s Answer

Admit that you don't know the answer, and always honestly describe how you would go about learning or finding out how to get it

In an interview, if you don't know an answer, it's normal to feel unsure. We've all experienced it. Stay calm and honest instead of guessing. You can say you're not sure, or if you know a little, explain briefly how you would find the answer or solve the problem. Keep your response clear and simple. It's okay to take a short pause; it shows you're thinking carefully. Interviewers value honesty, problem-solving skills, and a desire to learn more than a quick, wrong answer. Good luck!
