Definitely look for volunteer opportunities. You could also do some babysitting. See if any of the hospitals near you offer babysitter clinics. Of course continue with mat and science studies and join any health related clubs at school.

I recommend finding a volunteer position at a hospital. For example, at my hospital, we use volunteers in our mother baby units. They perform tasks like refilling waters, getting empty trays out of rooms, stocking baby bassinets, and creating admission folders. Though it is not hands-on with patient care, you will still see patients in passing, and it will help you get the feel for what a hospital environment is like.
A lot of hospitals allow cuddler programs for volunteers to hold babies in the NICU. If you are interested in labor and delivery or pediatrics, this would be right up your alley and give you more hands-on patient care. Best wishes to you!
Go to a local hospital's website. Find the volunteer program on their website and inquire about an application.
