how can I emotionally and mentally prepare for a future in forensic psychology where I help victims find justice while professionally working with offenders facing serious, psychological, and criminal challenges?
I want to become a forensic psychologist because I care deeply about helping victims feel understood while also learning how mental health influences criminal behavior.

Cecilia Alondra’s Answer
Hi, Ashley!
This is Cecilia from Mexico. I used to be a homicide detective, and here are some things that really helped me:
1. Believe in something bigger, whether it's God, the Universe, or whatever feels right to you.
2. My safe haven was my family. I would share my day with my parents and leave work stress outside. It was important to manage my feelings, especially when dealing with tough cases.
3. If you can, see a psychologist. Even though you're becoming one, getting professional help is always beneficial.
4. Study as much as possible. I thought I'd be scared, but I became passionate and read a lot to understand people and situations better.
Being a detective was one of the best jobs I've ever had. It was scary and risky, but so worth it. You'll find your own path, just give it a try. You can do it!
