What is a skill needed for architecture success that isn’t focused on enough in college and is required to do the job well?

For example, I know people with business degrees that had trouble starting business because they didn’t know what steps to take to get properly started. One person said, they teach you basic accounting but not how to do accounting when you’re starting out and the business money is your investment. So you end up hiring someone to do what you thought school would teach you.

That's a great question, Leah! One thing architecture school doesn't really focus on is understanding the scope of a project. Whether you're working for someone else or on your own, it's important to know that time and resources are limited. Clients hire you to solve a specific problem, and that problem is your scope. So, focus on designing to address that problem and avoid spending long nights trying to read between the lines.
