Why do people usually not end up with the job they planned to have in college?

I see all the time people talking about how after college they got jobs that correlate to their major (Or sometimes it's completely different), but it was not the job they were aiming for.

Morgan’s Answer

College provides students with an education, but real-world work experience can often be very different from what they originally expected. Through internships and entry-level jobs, many people realize they do not enjoy the field they once planned to pursue. Additionally, college majors do not always map directly to one specific job, so graduates may still use the skills from their degree but in ways they did not anticipate while earning it. External factors such as changes in the job market, personal life decisions like where to live, financial needs, and evolving personal values and interests can also influence career paths. As a result, many people end up in roles different from what they expected when they chose a college major at 18 years old.
