The hardest part of dental school is the constant pressure, time crunch, and physical/mental fatigue—especially being surrounded by high achievers while balancing lectures, labs, and precision work, which can easily lead to burnout and perfectionism. What makes it easier isn’t just studying harder but building sustainable habits: treat school like a structured job with clear work hours, prioritize consistent sleep, maintain a regular fitness routine to prevent fatigue and injury, focus on being efficient rather than perfect, and keep a small support system of peers. Having a non-academic outlet and asking for help early also makes a big difference, and you can start now by building discipline, managing your time well, staying active, and gaining exposure to dentistry to stay motivated long-term.

The first two years of didactic study is very rigorous with the heavy emphasis on the biosciences. Use your classmates to study with.
